Walter Joseph Cawley aka Wally was born in The Bronx, New York on 9/1/1942 and was raised in St Pius Parish. He attended St Pius Elementary School. In 1956 he attended Cathedral College Prep at 555 West End Avenue (87th St), Manhattan NY. While attending Cathedral after freshman and sophomore years he worked as a Camp Counselor at Camp Carrig Kenny summer camp on Lake Kanawaukee in Harriman State Park, NY. At some point of time, he transferred to Cardinal Hayes HS (CHHS) in the Bronx from which he graduated in 1960. In his CHHS yearbook he noted an intention to join the US Air Force. A record was found on the internet for a Walter Joseph Cawley with an SSN of 130-32-1270 had a Military enlistment date of 1/1/1962 and a separation date of 6/5/1968. It is unknown to this writer what he did between June 1960 and January 1, 1962. However, Uncle Sam would have been waiting in the wings to send him a “Greetings” letter. An obituary for a Walter J Cawley was found in THE RECORD (Hackensack, New Jersey) dated 8/10/1995 which stated as follows: Walter J Cawley, 52, of Ridgewood died Wednesday. He was a management consultant for A.T. Hudson, Oradell. He was a National Guard Veteran. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, R.C. Church, Ridgewood, and Knights of Columbus. Arrangements: C.C. Van Emburg, Ridgewood. Another death record was found on the internet for a Walter J Cawley, born 9/1/1942 in New York, USA and a death date of August 8, 1995 in Lima, Allen County, USA. He died at Lima Memorial Hospital at 12:10 AM. This Walter J Cawley was reported to have 4 years of college education. And was a member of the US National Guard.
